Windows Server 2012 – DHCP Authentication without AD

Sometimes it happens that you want to use your Windows Server as an DHCP server without having an Active Directory environment.Unfortunately MS believes that this is not a supported operational mode.

I foudn this post on the MS forum: Turn DHCP back on without active directory

All the  author says is to create the following 32 DWORD:

Add this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCPServer\Parameters

Name: DisableRogueDetection
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0x1

And it worked like a charm.

Add the following to dhcp_no_auth.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCPServer\Parameters]
"DisableRogueDetection"=dword:00000001
